Dubai Marathon

On January 16th 2009, Dubai held a Standard Charter Marathon where competators ran along the Beach Road, passing well known landmarks such as The Burj and The Palm Jumeriah. A huge number of people took part in both the 3k and 10k run and there was even 4 members of Kings' staff that competed; Mr McCooe, Mr O'Brien, Mr Wood and Mr O'Neil all ran the whole 42K and they deserve a special mention, they even got an entry to the sensational 'Gold Book' during the assembly on Thursday. Well done to all of the children and staff at Kings' who competed.

Rashid football Tournament

Kings Dubai VS Dubai English Speaking School (D.E.S.S)

Dess had the kickoff, their striker passed it to the midfielder then with skill, Oscar tackled him and passed the ball to TJ. The ball was then forwarded to Patrick in the box but the goalie saved it. Patrick went for the ball again but got injured in the tackle and he was substituted for Mohamed. Right near the end of the match TJ dribbled the ball down the wing and crossed it into Mohamed just then, referee blew the whistle for the end of the match before he could score!

Kings Dubai VS Greenfield

Greenfield had kicked off however Mohamed got the ball quickly and passed it to TJ who passed it back to Oscar. He passed it to Tom who tried to take it round the last defender but he got tackled. Patrick was the receiver of a great pass from Oscar but was unlucky and he slipped over the ball and the goalie saved it. For a second time Oscar passed another great ball to Patrick on the edge of the box, he dribbled into the box and shot but the goalie saved it. Finally the referee blew for the end of the match.

Sadly Kings did not qualify but we all enjoyed the game.

The Victorian Assembly.

On Thursday 22nd January class 6ts preformed an assembly all about Victorians. We had new inventions, magic, mind reading, juggling and much, much more!
Everyone enjoyed their part and had a blast!

It was a great experience and was just like the Victorian music hall.
Oscar P presented the new invention which was the camera! For magic was Joe with a help from Nick. The strong men were Patrick, Mark and Murray. A spectacular performance by Nick the marvelous mind reader. Wonderful poem done by Jemima and Sophie written by Lewis Carroll!
The jugglers were TJ, Oscar P, Nick, Daniel and Oliver. We had some extraordinary jokes and laughs from our brilliant comedians Harriet, Felix and James. And lots of other amazing acts!! Everyone had a wonderful time!!

Netball Tournament

On the 27th of November, the Kings' netball team went to DESS for a tourment that they would remember for a long time. Two people from our class went to the tournament, Sophie P. and Danielle L., playing GS(Goal Shooter) and GK(Goal Keeper). After a very long drive the Kings' team finally arrived. Only one problem. The balls were with the 2 people who hadn't arrived yet! Just as the tournament was about to start they arrived, so we could have a quick practise. We were playing second, so after one match we were on! The football team turned up about half way through, and provided some(not very) helpful encouragement. We were goalless for the first match as we were playing against a very strong team. We had a wait of nearly an hour while 6 matches were played. In our next match Sophie got Man of the Match after some very strong defence in goal. We had another long wait but then we were up against JAPS. They beat us but Amirah D. got Man of the Match. The next match seemed to go really quickly with a draw against SES, and Amirah getting MOM(Man of the Match again). Our last match was goalless again, but Amirah got her final MOM. The final was a fight to the finish between DESS and JESS but JESS triumphed with a 3-2 win. The presentation was quiet as only 3 teams were there. Us, JESS and DESS were the only ones who stayed. JESS got their trophy that they deserved so much and DESS got their runners up certificate. Then the Player of the Tournament was announced. It was Amirah D., of Kings! We were all so happy for her and she really deserved it after some very strong attack.
It was our first tournament and though we were goaless we all had a great time.

Italy international day

ItalicFor International day we were the pasta master Italians. We studied on 4 different countries which were Brazil, Italy, Russia and U.S.A. In Italy we had to do a comprehension sheet on Italy and we did a word search and also ate pastries and olives. In U.S.A we had to draw a skyline cut and colour it, we also ate crisps while cracking a detective code. In Russia we learned about the K.G.B and played double agent games. Finally in Brazil we danced to our made up Brazil rhythms and also learned about the Brazilian football team. And then we played musical instruments.

Then we had an Italian lunch which included pasta and pizza. After lunch we did a house team Italian Quiz and Windsor won. At the end of the day we had an international fair were you played games and bought objects from your country.
