Netball Tournament

On the 27th of November, the Kings' netball team went to DESS for a tourment that they would remember for a long time. Two people from our class went to the tournament, Sophie P. and Danielle L., playing GS(Goal Shooter) and GK(Goal Keeper). After a very long drive the Kings' team finally arrived. Only one problem. The balls were with the 2 people who hadn't arrived yet! Just as the tournament was about to start they arrived, so we could have a quick practise. We were playing second, so after one match we were on! The football team turned up about half way through, and provided some(not very) helpful encouragement. We were goalless for the first match as we were playing against a very strong team. We had a wait of nearly an hour while 6 matches were played. In our next match Sophie got Man of the Match after some very strong defence in goal. We had another long wait but then we were up against JAPS. They beat us but Amirah D. got Man of the Match. The next match seemed to go really quickly with a draw against SES, and Amirah getting MOM(Man of the Match again). Our last match was goalless again, but Amirah got her final MOM. The final was a fight to the finish between DESS and JESS but JESS triumphed with a 3-2 win. The presentation was quiet as only 3 teams were there. Us, JESS and DESS were the only ones who stayed. JESS got their trophy that they deserved so much and DESS got their runners up certificate. Then the Player of the Tournament was announced. It was Amirah D., of Kings! We were all so happy for her and she really deserved it after some very strong attack.
It was our first tournament and though we were goaless we all had a great time.

Italy international day

ItalicFor International day we were the pasta master Italians. We studied on 4 different countries which were Brazil, Italy, Russia and U.S.A. In Italy we had to do a comprehension sheet on Italy and we did a word search and also ate pastries and olives. In U.S.A we had to draw a skyline cut and colour it, we also ate crisps while cracking a detective code. In Russia we learned about the K.G.B and played double agent games. Finally in Brazil we danced to our made up Brazil rhythms and also learned about the Brazilian football team. And then we played musical instruments.

Then we had an Italian lunch which included pasta and pizza. After lunch we did a house team Italian Quiz and Windsor won. At the end of the day we had an international fair were you played games and bought objects from your country.

League Gala Round 2

On Thursday, the Kings' Dubai swim squad went to the American Community School in Abu Dhabi for Round 2 of the swimming league. The gala was very late starting, and one of the schools didn't arrive until races had started. Finally the races started and the I.M. swimmers, Mark M. and Kirra B., did Kings proud winning by a substantial distance each time. Kings' were of to a great start, winning the first 3 races and then continuing to win constantly, showing the other schools what they were made of. As the swimmers hit the water, the Kings swimmers were all behind them. Though I have to say, the loudest cheers came from the other side of the pool, where the mums were on their feet screaming! Race after race Kings won, though ACS put up a huge fight. The squadron was the only race left. Two swimmers from each year group, a boy and a girl, represented the school in a relay. Our swimmers were, Natasha N. and Cameron M. from year 3, Max H. and Britney B. from year 4, Kian H. and Charlotte U. from Year 5, Kirra B. and Mark M. from Year 6. Kings' drew away from the competition as each lap passed until as the last swimmer completed their swim, it was a full 4 seconds until the next team hit the wall.
Kings went absoulutly nuts! Finally the announcement came. The winner of the year 3 sections was..... Kings'! 2 year 3's went and collected the trophy. Year 4 went to ACS . Year 5 was.... Kings! Again our swimmers went up to collect their trophy. Year 6 was.... Kings! They knew what that meant. But still... Just to be sure.... Overall the winnersof the league gala round 2 was
KINGS! As Mark and Kirra went to collect the trophy the team so much deserved I reflected on how much training they must have gone through just for this momment.
I had the opportunity to get an interview with Mark Matthews.

Q: Who were the best performers from each year?
