We have been learning about microbes in Year 6.We did an experiment about what conditions microbes need to grow on apples and bread. We found out that they prefer the heat, moist and sugar but they they can still grow in the classroom. However they didn't grow as much in the fridge because it was too cold for them to multiply. After a few days the the apples only had a little bit of mold on but the bread had none. The next week the apple had got loads of mold on it but the bread had just started to harden. Two days after the microbes broke a quarter of the apple. Most of the apple had gone so moldy that it juiced it self. The bread had black dots, got realy hard and the microbes broke the bread down.
We did another experiment this was to test how much yeast needs to grow to do our experiment we used a empty bottle and a balloon. You need warm water and sugar. When the yeast mixed with the sugar and warm water, the fugi was happy and multiplied. When it multiplied it gave off a gas and some of the baloons blew up but ours didn't.
